The rivers teem with fish, making this an angler’s paradise. Bird watchers and lovers of wild unspoiled countryside will not be disappointed. This part of the Creuse is still undiscovered by hoards of tourists and driving is still a pleasure, making trips to historic towns, local markets and places of interest an enjoyable day out.

Limoges, famous for its porcelain is only ¾ of an hour away. Bourganeuf, founded in the 12th century by the Knights Templars, is only 15 minutes' drive. Aubusson and Felletin, the medieval centres of tapestry weaving are within easy reach through beautiful countryside.

The Lac de Vassivière, is a man-made hydro-power lake of over 1000 hectares (2500 Acres), and is just ½ an hour's drive from the Auberge de Chatelus.

The lake caters for all water sports including swimming, sailing, water-skiing and wind surfing. An island at the centre of the lake has a sculpture park and modern art gallery. Many restaurants and cafés line the lakeside and lake cruises are available in Summer.

RyanAir have cheap daily flights from Stanstead & Liverpool to Limoges. You can pick up a Hire Car at Limoges Airport and be with us in just over an hour. We look forward to welcoming you to this lovely part of France.
